Katie Uhlmann, Founder & CEO

Katie Uhlmann is an award-winning producer, director, writer, and the CEO of Katie Chats Inc., a leading Canadian production company.

She has been selected by Telefilm Canada as one of Canada’s 2026 Producers to Watch and will be representing Canada at the 2026 Series Mania in France.

Katie began to pursue a career in the arts after completing a degree in Drama and Psychology at Queen’s University and a summer program in Entertainment and Media Management at the UCLA Anderson School of Business.

Her most recent short film When you know you… know? won various awards, including Best Canadian Short Film in Montreal at the Yes! Let’s Make a Movie Film Festival. Uhlmann was nominated for Best Director of a Canadian Short Film at the Hollywood North Film Awards.

Uhlmann directed six episodes of the heartfelt comedy series Cows Come Home, which she also co-created and co-wrote with Lindsey Middleton. The television series premiered in Spring 2025 on Bell Fibe TV1 to widespread acclaim. As of 2026, the show has reached the top 2% on its Canadian broadcaster and been featured in over 40 media outlets, including CBC.

As an actor, Katie is most known for playing Candy Kemper on the hit medical drama Nurses, and for directing and starring in her award-winning digital series My Roommate’s an Escort. She is also known for her talk show, Katie Chats, where she interviewed over 3,000 professionals in the film and television industry. She is the current president of WebSeries Canada.

David Carruthers, Executive Producer

David is a veteran film and television production professional, having amassed over 70 credits in a career that spans three decades. As an Executive Producer, Production Manager, and 1st AD, David has collaborated with studio executives, directors and producers from all of the major studios, streamers and broadcasters including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, MGM, CBC, Hallmark, BBC, Lifetime, Sony, Global, CBS, CTV and Peacock. 

David’s recent PM credits include season 2 of the global hit Reacher (Amazon), and season 6 of the Emmy award-winning franchise The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu). David currently serves as PM on the first season of The Handmaid’s Tale sequel The Testaments (Hulu). 

As a 1st AD, David helmed many high-profile and successful series over the course of his career, including Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), Hemlock Grove (Netflix), Lost Girl (SyFy), Good Witch (Hallmark), Workin’ Moms (CBC) and Rookie Blue (ABC). As an Executive Producer, David oversaw the production of 21 episodes of the award-winning web series My Roommate’s an Escort.
